Abner Algernon Steele, age 68, gave up time for Eternity on Monday, July 14, 2025 at his residence surrounded by loving family members. Born October 5, 1956, in Davie County, North Carolina, Abner was the son of the late Abner Randolph and Jimmie Lou Tabor Steele. Abner was kind, considerate and always willing to lend a helping hand to his fellowman. We have many fond memories of Abner and he will be dearly missed.


He attended Davie County High School, Mocksville, North Carolina, graduating in 1974. "Al" as he was affectionately known, obtained his Bachelor's degree in Computer Business Administration from Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina in 1978. He was last employed with Kontoor in Mocksville, North Carolina as an IT Technician and retired in February, 2023.


Abner was a former member of Second Presbyterian Church in Mocksville, North Carolina. An avid computer enthusiast, Abner enjoyed anything relating to computer technology. He also enjoyed reading Military history, watching Star Trek and Dr. Who?, classic movies and the color red.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Abner Randolph Steele and Jimmie Lou Tabor Steele.

Gone but never forgotten, Abner is survived by his two beautiful daughters, Evan E. Steele of Mocksville, North Carolina and Zoe A. Steele of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a brother, Jim (Greg) Steele of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a sister, Lillian Jane Steele, of Mocksville, North Carolina; an uncle, Minor Steele of Mocksville, North Carolina; close friend, Sonya Hauser-Steele of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
