Alan Wayne Sparks transitioned to his Heavenly Home Saturday, June 14, 2025 while a patient at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born November 11, 1963 in Davie County, North Carolina and was the son of Nancy Allen Sparks Dale and the late Donald Odell Sparks. Our memories of Alan will forever remain in our hearts and he will be dearly missed. We find comfort in knowing that he now rests in the Arms of Our Lord and Savior.
Alan was educated in the Davie County Public School System, graduating in 1983 from Davie County High School in Mocksville, North Carolina. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country honorably. He was employed with Long Brothers Trucking Company in Rural Hall, North Carolina until his retirement.
Alan attended Franklin Baptist Church in Salisbury, North Carolina. He was a huge racing fan; you could find him serving as an official during the races at Bowman Gray Stadium. His favorite racer was Ryan Blaney. In his pastime, he enjoyed spending time with his lovely wife and family. His hobbies included fishing, working in the yard, racing and hunting.
Alan leaves many hearts to cherish his memory, among those, a loving and devoted wife, Jamie Smith Sparks; a daughter, Stephanie (fiancé Dillon Mabe) Sparks of Mocksville, North Carolina; a grandson, Caleb White; mother, Nancy Allen Sparks Dale of Mocksville, North Carolina; a brother, Ricky (Lora) Sparks of Mocksville, North Carolina; father and mother -in-law, David and Chessie Smith of Mocksville, North Carolina; sister and brother-in-law, Dina and Jason Plummer; a Furbaby, Layla; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Franklin Baptist Church, Salisbury, North Carolina with visitation at 11:00 AM prior to service time. Entombment will follow at the Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury, North Carolina.
