Alice Mae Nelson, 65, was born June 24, 1957 in Chesterfield County, SC to Mary Hough Nelson, affectionately known as "Mae," and the late Clinton Nelson. She transitioned on Friday, September 30, 2022.

At the former Davidson County Community College, Alice finished Adult Education classes, received a certificate in welding and completed requirements to earn an associate's degree in Human Resources Management from DCCC. Before her health declined, she worked at Atrium Windows and Doors.

In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rayfell Nelson; grandmother, Rosa Lee Williams; grandfather, German "Boss" Hough; mother and father-in-law, Viola and William Nelson; sister-in-law, Audrey Nelson; brother-in-law, Darrell Nelson and stepson, Dominic Lashawn Nelson.

Alice leaves to cherish precious memories, sons: James (Monique) Nelson, Rufus (Martika) Nelson and Lindsay (Nicole) Nelson; mother, Mary Hough Nelson; grandchildren: Rumal Ty'Quan, Ja'Quashia, Kendrick, Ny'Geil, Khaleed, Naima, Jakan, Jayla, Jaleel and Jade; one great-granddaughter, Arianna; nephews whom she raised, Maurice (Bria) Nelson and Mario Nelson; sisters, Juirietha Nelson Johnson and Margaret Nelson; sister-in-law, L'Tanya Nelson; nephews, Jason Moore and Richard Johnson; niece, Bridgette McFadden; special friend, David Wansley; members of the Tate and Lockhart families and a host of other family members.

The funeral service will be Saturday at Files Chapel Baptist Church at 2:00pm with family visitation at 1:30pm. Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00pm-5:00pm at Roberts Funeral Service.
