Obituary

Annell Mayfield Barker entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born on November 2, 1941 in Davie County to the late Clyde Thomas Mayfield, Sr. and Inez Baker Mayfield.She attended Davie County Training School and enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, adult coloring books and cooking.

She loved spending time with family and friends and was always ready to attend any event her grandsons were in.She was a life-long member of Shiloh Baptist Church.There she used her talent and love for music in church choirs.She especially enjoyed participating in combined–musical endeavors within the community. She was also a member of the Sr. Missionary Department serving as treasurer.Mrs. Barker retired from Hoechst-Celanese as a Lab Analyst.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman Nelson Barker; brothers, Clyde Thomas Mayfield, Jr., Jimmy Sylvester Mayfield; and granddaughter, Janell Nicole Barker.

Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Cheryl Lorraine Barker of the home; son, Timothy Dejuan Barker (Karen) of Raleigh, NC; grandsons, Travis Nelson Barker, Kevin James Barker; three sisters: Priscilla Williams (George), Valeria Poag (Hezekiah) and Syandra Mayfield; brother-in-law, Charlie N. Barker (Vickie); sister-in-law, Bertha Mayfield; a devoted childhood friend, Melvin Lee White of Winston-Salem, NC; "A Ray of Sunshine," Tisha Dowell ofTemple, GAand a host of other family members and friends.

A private service will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church on Saturday, May 01, 2021.The service can be viewed live on the following website: https://m.facebook.com/RobertsFuneralServiceWS/
Burial will be at St. John AME Zion's Cemetery beside her beloved husband, Freeman. Public viewing will be at Roberts Chapel, 953 Salisbury Road, Mocksville, NC from 12noon – 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 1st. 2021.
