Annie Miller was born May 22,1921 in Franklinton, North Carolina to the late Iverson and Lillie Keith Nicholson. Annie was the fifth child of six children, all of whom preceded her in death. She passed away on June 7, 2023 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

She was a member of Manassas Chapel Baptist Church, Franklinton North Carolina and attended Albion Academy High School where she graduated in the class of 1940. Annie loved art and became an excellent artist studying from a collection of Famous Artists Course books.

Annie later moved to Brooklyn, New York where she met and married James Griffin. To this union five children were born, four daughters and one son. James passed away leaving her to raise the children alone. Years later she married again to Minister Adolphus Miller.

Annie was a loving, caring person with a special and deep compassion for children. Her love for children inspired her to become a foster parent for Talbot Perkins Adoption Services. During her tenure there, she fostered forty-three children, several of whom stayed long term and remained in contact when they became adults.

She was a devoted member of New York Deliverance Gospel Temple and served as beloved mother on the mothers' board under Pastor Ira Davison.

Annie leaves to cherish her memories her children: Theresa Griffin, Cynthia Griffin Stewart, Brenda Griffin, James Griffin, Jr., Portia Griffin Hopkins; a son-in-law, Anderson Butch Stewart and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Covenant of Hope Church. Public viewing will be on Wednesday at the church prior to the service only. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, North Carolina.
