Deacon Annie Ruth Wells of Lexington, North Carolina was called to her heavenly home on Friday, October 21, 2016. Deacon Wells answered the beckoning call of her Lord and Savior, "Well Done Thy Good and Faithful Servant".
Funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at New Smith Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at James Family Cemetery in Maple Hill, NC.
Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
She was born August 26, 1939 in Maple Hill, North Carolina to James Henry Pickett and Lunie Mae Ferrior. She was educated in the Maple Hill School System. She was a graduate of Jones Bible School.
Deacon Wells served honorably both in her church and in her community. Mrs. Annie Wells was ordained as the first female deacon at New Smith Grove Baptist Church. She was a devoted member of The Pastor's Aid, The Usher Board, Hospitality Ministry, Nard's Pantry and a devotional leader.
She was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Wells, a daughter, Barbara Toudle; her parents, James H. Pickett and Lunie M. Ferrior; her grandparents, John and Dora Pickett who raised her as their own and her brother Jim Ferrior.
She leaves to cherish memories, her loving husband, Carl Wells, Sr.; her beloved sons: James Toudle, Larry Pickett, Carl Wells, Jr. (Denae), Kenneth Wells (Bridget) and her cherished daughter, Elisa Waldron (Travis); her sisters: Dorsay Mitchell, Brawley James and Sharon James; her loving brother, Phillip Johnson, beloved grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
