Anthony Scott Bailey, 51, of Lexington, was called home on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Scott was born March 12, 1973 in Lexington, North Carolina.
He attended the Davidson County Schools and was a 1992 graduate of West Davidson High School and attended Broward Community College after graduation. "6'9", as he was called, served 18 years with the Davidson County Sheriff Department and was also employed as a bail bondsman for 5 years with Allied Bonding.
Scott attended New Zion Baptist Church as a child and a young adult and enjoyed hearing the joyful praises.
Scott was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan. His greatest treasure was the love and bond he shared with his only child, Scotlan. Scott was known to many as a gentle giant, always a phone call away and had a sweet demeanor toward all he came in contact with.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, James "Shug" Bailey and Lila Bush Bailey; grandparents, Fairbanks and Clattie Bailey and James and Geneva Bush-Reid and two cousins, Stacy Bailey-Dalton and Cleveland Williams, Jr.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, his daughter, Scotlan Bailey; longtime girlfriend, Latoya Mitchell; step daughter, Zya Spruell; his brother, Kenneth (Stephanie) Bailey; a sister, Geneva Bailey-Coleman; an uncle, Tommy Bush; two aunts, Ora Bailey and Mae Mitchell; two nieces, Kierra Bailey-Mobley and Janae Bailey; three great nephews: Knari, Keegan and Cincere Bailey, other family and friends.
The funeral service will be Saturday at New Zion Baptist Church at 1:00pm.
