Obituary

On April 17, 1991, God, with His love and grace, took a walk through His rose garden and told Ashley Laverne Wilson that it was time to bless the world with her dynamic presence. She was born to her mother, Ms. Kenya Davis and birth father, Mr. Calvin Massey and her adoptive parents, Ms. Katie Wilson and the late Pastor David Lee Wilson.

Ashley was a member of Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.. As we all know, she loved to sing. She touched so many hearts and souls with her voice. She will be remembered for her creativity and charisma and over 100 recorded songs that touched so many hearts. Ashley graduated from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School system and attended Elizabeth City State University where she pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Law with a minor in music. Ashley worked at Bojangles, OpCo, LLC for over 10 years, and her career ended with her working at Lidl & Co., where she had been employed as an assistant manager.

On the night of March 2, 2023, Ashley's life was cut short.. God sent Ashley into our lives, allowing us to enjoy her 31 years and 11 months. God told her that her work here on earth was completed and he called her to rest. Our hearts are saddened and her place will not be replaced by any other. Despite our pain, we should pause and give thanks to God for loaning her to us here on earth for a moment to love, cherish and enjoy.

She was preceded in death by her adopted father, Pastor David L. Wison; siblings, James Dunbar and Sharon Montgomery and a nephew, master Kenneth Dunbar, Jr.

She leaves behind to love and cherish her memories her mother, Kenya Davis; birth father, Calvin Massey; adoptive mother, Katie Wilson; seven loving sisters: Quintoriay Singleton, Faith Burnette, Makayla Massey, Karen Wharton, Tory Singleton, Kathleen Wilson and Ja'Lisa Wilson; four brothers: Ken Dunbar, Calvin Massey, Jr., David Davis and Matthew Wilson; grandfather, Terry Dunbar; three loving and devoted nieces: Alyssa Burnette, Emeri Cade and Ja'Siyah Singleton; two adorable nephews, J'Lynn Wilson and Juel McNeal; so many amazing and loving cousins, including: Avis Sewell, Kimberly Brown, Alexis Davis, Moesha Davis, Mikisha Davis, Katlen Davis; lastly, Ashley leaves behind so many other relatives, friends and loved ones, including Raquel Thomas and her son Landon Thomas.

To Ashley, we all say in our hearts, "Sleep on now and take your rest. We love and will miss you and we will always carry you in our hearts."
