Beatrice Lee Foster Smoot, a true matriarch entered God's Golden Gate, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 28, 1937 in Davie County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late John Henry and Jessie Helen Wilson Foster. Forever in our hearts, she was loved by all and will be dearly missed. Our family was truly blessed to have shared her life for so many years.

She was educated in the Davie County public schools and graduated in 1954 from Davie Training School, Mocksville, North Carolina. Beatrice furthered her studies at the Salisbury Business College, Salisbury, North Carolina. After completing her studies, Beatrice began her career as an inspector with Sarah Lee Corporation where she remained until retirement. A believer, Beatrice was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, Mocksville, North Carolina. In her leisure, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, planting flowers, sewing, and watching her favorite television shows: "In the Heat of the Night", "Andy Griffith", "Jeopardy" , all the "Judge" shows and her westerns.

Beatrice met and married the love of her life, William Rondal Smoot. Shortly after their marriage, the couple began their family. She was a loving wife and devoted mother to their eight children. After the death of her late husband of 58 years, in May 2014, she began to carry the role of matriarch and was dedicated even more to her family. Always giving of herself and going above and beyond for everyone, Beatrice was a loving, kindhearted person who never met a stranger. She drew strength from her family, even on the days she didn't feel her best, she felt strong because of the love she received from her family.

Beatrice has joined her parents; her husband, William Rondal Smoot; daughters: Carol Smoot Fisher, Sharon Smoot Etchison, Sherry D. Smoot and Sabrina Smoot; grandchildren, Russell McClelland and Char'Lee Dulin; a great-great grandchild, Dakia Miles; siblings, Charles Foster and Johnny Foster in her Heavenly home.

A legacy of love and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of her two sons: Dennis A. (Buddy) Smoot, and William E. (Raquel) Smoot, both of Mocksville, North Carolina; two daughters: Patricia McClelland and Rhonda Smoot Grant, both of Mocksville, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren: Kim, Syretta, Rufus, Jessica, Rashaun (Laken), Mateah (Katie), Brandon, Myriah, Johnathan, Sabrina(David) and Tianna; twelve great grandchildren: Brianna, Kortney, Amber, Rue, Elijah, Josiha, Jeremiah, River, Lucas, Chloe, Belle, and Destiny; one great-great grandchild, Diorah; a brother, Gary (Teresa) Foster, of Mocksville, North Carolina; best friends, Darnell Latham, Pansy Woodward and Ruth Johnson; two special cousins, Martha Scott and Betty Naylor; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Roberts Funeral Service Chapel.
