Benjamin Earl Hargrave, Sr., affectionately known as "Bulldog," was born March 14, 1948 to the late Will & Jennie Roberts Hargrave.On June 23, 2020 Heaven's gates swung open and "Bulldog" walked into eternal rest.Bulldog was a man of strength.He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend.
Bulldog graduated from Dunbar High School in 1966 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp.While in high school he played tennis and football and earned numerous awards and trophies.He retired from the Lexington City School System.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Brenda Hargrave; a daughter, Krissie Hargrave; a son, Benjamin Hargrave II; six brothers: Robert Hargrave, Clarence Hargrave, Sr., William Hargrave, Richard Hargrave, Marshall Hargrave and Richard K. Robinson and two sisters, Daisy Hargrave and M. Pauline Hargrave.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Carla Cooper, Pam Hargrave, Benjamin Hargrave, Jr. (Kendra); his grandchildren: Keyera Lockhart, Kaneisha Cooper, Kelsie Lockhart, Benjamin "BJ" Hargrave, Demorai Milner, Micah Hargrave and McKinley Hargrave; a sister, Crissie Hargrave; a brother, Claymon Hargrave; a special nephew, Cedric Hargrave, Sr. (Nika); his special friends: Robert Fuller, Bennie Owens, David Norman and Rev. Jimmy Griffinand a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and lifelong friends.
A private memorial service will be Saturday at Roberts Funeral Service Chapel. Public viewing will be Friday at Roberts Funeral Service from 1-6pm and family will be present from 5 to 6pm.
