Mrs. Bettie M. Holmes Neely, 93, of Ellington Ave., passed away May 12, 2018 at Alston Brook Nursing Care.

She was born July 13, 1924 in Davidson County to Lee Thomas Holmes and Ophelia Tillman Holmes. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Village Dr. where she served on the Deaconess and usher boards.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Oliver Woodard Neely, Sr.; five brothers: Manuel, Thomas, Willard, Hulin and Joseph Holmes and two sisters, Mildred H. Michael and Elizabeth H. Brown.

She leaves to cherish her memories five children: Sonja A. Cross, Fannie N. Henderson, Robbie N. (Bruce) Cross, Sylvia W. Neely and John Oliver Woodard "Woody (Yvette) Neely, Jr.; two sisters, Eugenia "Pat" Hargrave and Margot Winton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Village Dr. with family visitation at 12:30. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
