Mrs. Betty Ruth Winston Griffin was born on September 18, 1945 in Davidson County, North Carolina to the late James Winston and Katherine Hargrave Winston. She peacefully transitioned from this life on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

Mrs. Griffin was a devoted and hardworking woman who retired from Brian Center Nursing Home after many years of faithful service. She was a dedicated and loving member of Southmont First Baptist Church, where she worshiped faithfully until her health began to decline. Her life was a reflection of kindness, strength and quiet grace.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Curtis Griffin; one brother, Bobby G. Winston; and three sisters: Annie Mae Crook, Shirley Williams and Doretha Mitchell.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving children, Steven Griffin (Gabrielle) and Pamela Carpenter; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy; one brother, Clinton Winston (Peggy); one sister, Brenda Moore (George); two aunts, Aquilla Sampson and Josephine Hargrave; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Friday at Southmont First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 PM, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.

 As we say farewell, we rejoice in the blessed hope, declaring: “I hear the old saints singing—what are they doing up in Heaven today...? They’re singing and shouting up in Heaven today.”
