Betty Rose Harring Leak was born on August 19, 1944 to Jennie Harring and Willie Griffin. Raised by her aunt Mae Harring, she grew up in the town of Thomasville, North Carolina and was educated in the Davidson County School System. She attended Church Street School.

Betty Rose was a person of dedication in all areas of her life. Known for her loyalty, she received accolades from her employers ranging from Masonite, Mannington, Thomasville Furniture Industries and Dr. Joe Hedgepeth. She knew she could do all things through Christ but she was nothing without Him. She would go on to serve the Lord through her personal relationship with him and became an usher at Brown New Calvary Baptist Church where she faithfully attended. She also loved to sew and cook.

In 1981, Betty met Robert Connell Leak at work and the two started a courting relationship. After four years of courting, the two married on May 18, 1985 in their first home. Through this marriage, Betty became a stepmother to Robert's son, Corey Leak.

On Thursday, January 02, 2025, Betty Rose Leak went to sleep on this side and awoke to paradise with Jesus. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Jake Rickard; aunt, Mae Harring; her son, Antonio Leak; and mother and father-in-law, Robert and Glennie Tuttle.

Those left to cherish her memories includes her husband, Robert Leak; step-son, Corey Leak of Birmingham, Alabama; a sister; and god-son, Carlos Goodman. Also left to cherish fond memories are sisters-in-law: Kathy Thomas, Paula Tuttle (Nathan), Sheila Leonard, Kimberly Tuttle and Michelle Borden (Anthony); as well as brothers-in-law, Keith Tuttle (Donna) and Marlon Tuttle (Zelda). Betty leaves a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Funeral service will be Sunday at Brown New Calvary Baptist Church at 1:30pm with family visitation at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Brooks Temple United Methodist Church Cemetery.
