Deacon Billy Lee Houser transitioned into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem NC. He was in the comfort of family and friends as they stood at his bedside and worshipped our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST in prayer and song.
Deacon Billy was born and raised in Surry County, North Carolina on December 12, 1953. He was preceeded in transition of life by his parents, Nathaniel B. Houser (NB) and Margaret Hughes-Houser; his loving son, Nathan Van Heuvel Houser and his brothers: Larry Houser, Tony Hughes, Elder Jimmy Houser and Elder Joe Houser.
After Deacon Billy graduated from Elkin High School in 1972, he embarked on a successful career at Wayne's Farm, LLC in Dobson, NC as a shipping supervisor. He retired after 42 years of loyal service. He began his unwavering relationship with JESUS CHRIST and was baptized in 1991. For years he served as a faithful Deacon at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church where he found strength in his faith. He loved GOD and loved talking about GOD and inspiring others to put their faith in GOD. He wanted to use his life as an example and a testimony on how you can make it over every struggle and challenge. His favorite hobbies were spending time with his wife and working for the Lord.
Deacon Billy will be greatly missed by his darling wife, Joan Houser; children: Mark (Daisy) Hughes, Mylon (Tia) Hughes, Donya (Stacy) Bradley, Daryl, Kay and Dwight France; grandchildren: William Kyle, Dakwan Shaquille Leake, Taniya Elaine France, Andre and Kirstin Rowe, Bryson and Jordan Hughes, Kameron, Ziyah and Elijah Bradley; one sister, Mother Gail and (Elder Anthony) Love; three brother: John William Hughes, Sr., Elder Ronnie (Ester) Houser, Luther (Mildred) Houser; nieces and nephews Brandy, Raheem, Kim and Julianna Odem, Melissa (Elder Rodney) France, Benjamin and Joshua Houser, Laurel Jessup, Carlette Potter and a host of nieces and nephews; very devoted sister-in-law, Ruby Houser and sisters-in-law: Cynthia (Craig) Greenlee, Robin Wallace and Elaine Chandler.
Deacon Billy will forever be remembered for his love, kindness and unwavering devotion to his family. He is already missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and being in his presence. Let us continue our faithful walk with Christ so that one day we may be able to see Deacon Billy again.
His life will be celebrated at 1:30 P.M. Friday, September 1, 2023 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with visitation at 12:30 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Public viewing will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
