Obituary

Mrs. Brenda Mae Hargrave, 59, of Jim Bell Rd., passed on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Hinkle Hospice House.

Memorial service will be Saturday at 1:30 P.M. at New Jersey AME Zion Church with visitation a half hour before the service.

Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00p.m. -7:00p.m. at Roberts Funeral Service.

She was born August 1, 1956, to Lucy G. Alston and James Hargraves in Baltimore, Maryland but was reared in Lexington by her great aunt and uncle, Christine and Daniel Norman.Brenda graduated from Lexington City School System and was employed at FLA until her health began to decline.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt and uncle; a daughter, Krissie Ann Hargrave; four brothers, Pearlie, Eddie, Kenny and Tommy.

She is survived by her faithful husband, Benjamin E. Hargrave of the home; a son, Benjamin E. (Kendra) Hargrave II of Thomasville; two daughters, Carla (Kenneth) Cooper of Durham and Pam Hargrave of Lexington; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, William B. (Lily) Alston; two sisters, Catherine (Melvin) Simmons and Doretha (Rickey) Hilton; a brother-in-law, Claymon Hargrave; three sisters-in-law, Pauline Norman, Garnett Hargrave and Crissie Ann Hargrave; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
