Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul… On Sunday morning, December 11, 2022 Brenda Gilchrist Mitchell exchanged time for eternity at Pine Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation.


She was born in Davidson County on July 28, 1949 to the late Robert A. Gilchrist and Geneva Wilson Gilchrist. She was a graduate of Dunbar High School class of 1967. Brenda worked numerous jobs over the years from Henry Link Furniture, PPG Ind. and Home Healthcare. She was a faithful member of Shadyside Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir until her health started to decline.


She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Eric Mitchell; two grandchildren, Eric X. Mitchell and Jordan M. Mitchell; two sisters, Joy Etta Harper and Vickie Gilchrist (Arnold) Weather; two brothers, Robert Gilchrist, Jr. and Larry G. Gilchrist; two aunts, Margaret Mitchell and Eleanor P. Wilson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Funeral service will be Thursday at Shadyside Presbyterian Church at 12:00 Noon with family visitation at 11:30am. Burial will follow at New Smith Grove Baptist Church.
