Mr. Carl Wells, Sr. was born April 10, 1941 in Beckley, West Virginia to Edward Wells and Evelyn Young Wells.On Monday, September 6, 2021, God dispatched his angles to bring our beloved soldier Wells home from labor to reward.
He retired from the United States Army after serving two tours in Vietnam and worked many years for the City of Lexington Parks and Recreation. He attended New Smith Grove Baptist Church.Mr. Carl enjoyed fishing, gardening and BBQ; he was an incredible chef.Everyone knew him because of his amazing German chocolate cake.You could find him watching wrestling or westerns, "Gunsmoke" or "John Wayne." He enjoyed the simple things life promised.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Annie Ruth Wells; a son, Andrew Wells and a daughter, Barbara Ann Toudle.
He leaves to cherish his memory four sons: James Toudle of Lexington, Larry Pickett of Lexington, Carl Wells, Jr. of Greensboro and Kenneth (Bridget) Wells of Greensboro; a daughter, Elisa Waldron of Greensboro; two brothers, William (Nancy) Wells of West Virginia and Stanford Wells of New York; a sister, Helen (Ronny) Lewis of West Virginia; four grandchildren: Jhalil Tyson, Damon Wells, Caleb Davis and Chance Dawkins and a host of other loving family and friends.
A private homegoing service will be on Thursday. Burial will follow at Salisbury National Cemetery at 1:00pm. Public viewing will be held at Roberts Funeral Service, Lexington on Wednesday from 1:00 to 5:00.
