Carl Francis Worthy, 83, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina passed away on April 15, 2023 at Walnut Cove Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on April 28, 1939 to the late William and Alberta Shelf Worthy.
He received his formal education from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. During his earlier years, Carl ventured to New York where he resided for some time before relocating back to Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Carl worked in maintenance with the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools until he retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alberta Shelf Worthy; son, Tory L. Worthy; two brothers, William Worthy and Wilber Worthy.
Left to cherish his life and fond memories are his wife, Elizabeth Johnson; two sons, Nathaniel "Nate" (Karen) Worthy, Carl Worthy, Jr.; daughter, Monique Chambers; 24 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby A. "Gee-gee" Clyburn, Gwendolyn (Dwight) Love; two brothers, Perry (Cynthia) Worthy, Larry Worthy and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 21, 2023 at St. John CME Church, 350 NW Crawford Place, Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27101 with family visitation at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 P.M.- 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
