Obituary

Carlye Levance Hickman, 62, of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, transitioned from this earthly life on Friday, July 21, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.He was born April 19, 1955, to William Russell and Gurly Hickman in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Roberts Funeral Service Chapel (Winston-Salem) with family visitation one half hour prior to the service.

Carlye, affectionately known as "Buster," was raised in Baltimore, MD and was educated in the local Baltimore, MD School System.He was employed with Johnson Quality Control as a Chemical Sprayer.Buster was a faithful member of Greater Hope of Glory Missionary Baptist Church until his health would no longer allow.

Carlye will always be remembered as a loving and caring father.His spirit was so captivating that he could keep you laughing in hard times.Carlye fought a valiant battle against cancer for 12 years.

He leaves to cherish his memory and legacy his two sons; Avery Douthit and Carlton "Keith" Roper; five daughters: MyGirlie Hickman, Carmela Hickman, Dorothy Lewis, Marvika Green, Lakeisha Roper; three brothers: William Hickman, Kevin Hickman, Wade McTier; a devoted cousin who was raised as a sister, Peggy Green; two grandchildren; A'ven Douthit and Kiera Roper and a host of other relatives and friends.
