Deaconess Carrie Mae Bobo was born on June 11, 1935 to Etha Bouknight and was lovingly raised by her step-grandmother, Isabella Bouknight, in Silverstreet, South Carolina. Deaconess Carrie Mae Bobo, age 90, passed away on January 28, 2026 at the Hinkle Hospice House.
In early 1953, at the age of 17, Carrie met her beloved sweetheart, Alvin Bobo, Sr., beginning a lifelong journey of love, faith and devotion. She was a devoted member of Little River Baptist Church prior to relocating to Lexington, North Carolina. After moving to Lexington, she united with Files Chapel Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a Deaconess and as a dedicated member of the Willing Workers Ministry and the Kitchen Committee. Her faith and commitment were unwavering, and she remained active in service until her health began to decline.
Deaconess Bobo was preceded in death by her mother, Etha Bouknight; her step-grandmother, Isabella Bouknight; her beloved husband, Alvin Bobo, Sr.; two sons, Alvin Bobo, Jr. and Kenneth Bobo; and her daughter-in-law, Gloria Bobo.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her devoted sons: Michael (Shirley) Bobo, James (Minister Wendy) Bobo and Brian Bobo; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law: Pearl McMillian, Vernice Lindsay, Kathleen (Carlton) Pittman and Fannie Yarbrough; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends who will forever treasure her legacy of love, service and faith.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 14 at Files Chapel Baptist Church. Family visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, followed by the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
