For God so loved the world, that He gave life to Charlie Vance Rawlinson on February 23, 1962.On February 21, 2021, Charlie answered the Lord's call at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to come unto Him and rest eternally. He was a gift from God to his parents Henry James Rawlinson, Sr., and Elsie Dobson Rawlinson Smith.
Charlie was educated in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System.He was baptized at an early age at Galilee Baptist Church where he attended until young adult life.
You could always catch him reading; he loved going to the library.As a youth, he would read the whole dictionary and encyclopedia.He also loved music, all kinds of music.He was a DJ!No matter the family function, he would always say that he got the music!Charlie had a smile that was truly one of a kind; it could light up any room.He worked for Reidenback Construction for about three years and also Johnson Control until his health began to fail.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Henry James Rawlinson, Sr. and brother, Willie Rawlinson.
Left to cherish his many fun and loving memories are his beautiful children: Adrian Harris (Candice), Eric Fair (Alisia Flores), Charmin Fair and August Rawlinson; four grandchildren: Christian Harris, Justice Harris, Madison Fair and Carter Fair; mother, Elsie Rawlinson Smith (Emmitt); one sister, Felecia Talford; three brothers: Henry James Rawlinson, Jr., Pastor Reginald (Carolyn) Rawlinson, Sr., Paul Rawlinson all of Winston-Salem; two aunts, Patricia Patton of York, SC, Priscilla Rawlinson of Winston-Salem; two uncles, Richard Littlejohn of Winston-Salem, NC, Paul Dobson of Yadkinville, NC and a devoted best friend, David Strickland.
The Homegoing Celebration will be held privately on Friday, February 26, 2021.His mortal frame shall be coached to Gardens of Memory in Walkertown, NC for earthly rest.Public viewing will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 12:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Service, Winston-Salem Chapel.In accordance with Covid-19 social distancing protocols, all guests are required to wear a face mask.
