Corey Lamont Smith, 52, was born on May 1, 1969 to Peggy Edwards Smith and the late Larry Smith in Thomasville, North Carolina.The gates of Heaven opened for Corey on Sunday, August 15, 2021.

Corey was a graduate of Glenn High School, class of '87 and Winston-Salem Barber School.

God blessed Corey with being a talented barber.There would never be anyone who could cut or groom hair the way Corey could.He truly was great.Corey worked throughout the city of Winston-Salem, North Carolina as a Master Barber.He was a former member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Smith and stepmother, Nancy Smith; his brother, P' Rogio D. Smith; maternal grandfather, James Edwards, Jr.; his paternal grandparents, Craven and Ida Mae Smith; uncles Rod Edwards and Bernard Smith.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories his children: daughters, Tyeshia Gantt and Raven Blackmon of Charlotte, NC; son, Corey Smith, II of Concord, NC; his mother, Peggy Edwards Smith of Winston-Salem, NC; brothers, Tony Edwards of Asheville, NC and Dwayne Smith of Winston-Salem, NC; maternal grandmother, Floree Crawford Edwards of Winston-Salem; aunts, Sandra Edwards Greene (Carl) and "Trudy" Veronica Edwards Wolfe (Jerrold) of Winston-Salem, NC; uncles, Allen Edwards of Charlotte, NC and Jerome Smith of High Point, NC; two grandchildren, DeShawn McMandes and Harmony Fulton of Charlotte, NC; special dear friend, Monica Imes Ross and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Service of Joyous Celebration will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 27, 2021 at Roberts Funeral Service Chapel (Winston-Salem).The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service.Public viewing will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 3:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
