Curtis Webster McCright, lovingly known as "Sonny," was born on September 1, 1952 in Rowan County, North Carolina to Frank Lynn and Alice Ruth Smith Cross. He passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025.
Sonny attended school in Rowan County and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. After his military service, he retired from 3form OEM, where he dedicated many years of hard work. He was a faithful member of Freedom Tabernacle Family Worship Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfathers, Shiver McCright and Gene Cross; his beloved wife, Elder Barbara McCright; three brothers, Frank Lynn Jr. Charles Lynn and Michael Lynn and a sister, Beverly Wallace.
Sonny leaves to cherish his memory three devoted daughters: Candace M. (Mel) James, Brandi N. (Marcus) McCright and Tongla L. (Larry) Burns; a loving son, James K. Miller; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda (Albert) Neely and Sharon Thompson; and a host of extended family, including three sisters-in-law: Joann (John) Smith-Thomas, Cynthia Adams and Loretta Vaughters; three brothers-in-law: James (Carlon) Baldwin, Everett (Andrea) Baldwin and Tony (Pamela) Baldwin; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of Sonny's life will take place at Freedom Tabernacle Family Worship Center on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 2:00 PM, with family visitation beginning at 1:30 PM. Interment with military honors will follow on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Salisbury National Cemetery at 10:00 AM.
