Obituary

With hearts full of gratitude for the life we shared with our Black Butterfly, we announce the passing of Cynthia Diane Acker, who entered eternal rest on July 11, 2026, at the age of 75.

Cynthia, lovingly known as Diane or "Lady D.," was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Pop and Mattie "Ma Sweet" Evans; her parents, Roosevelt and Carrie Lee Bennett; and her brother, Curtis Evans.

She leaves behind a legacy of love to be cherished by her sister, Rosalinda Thomas; her children, Shawn (Katetia) Bennett, Candace Rousseau (Cletis Goodman), and Jonathan "Josh" McCorey; her grandchildren, Treshaud Rousseau (Jihan Phillips), Shawn Bennett Jr., Brandi Bennett, Cameron Peoples-Bennett, Joshua Peoples-Bennett, and Ari Kimbrough; her great-granddaughter, Sanai Chaney; and her adored grand-pup, Sir Francis. She also leaves behind many extended family members, cherished friends, and loved ones who will forever hold her memory close.

Our Black Butterfly will always be remembered for her vibrant love of life, her passion for traveling, her fondness for hot dogs, and her famous bedazzle gun. She was a proud and devoted member of Hanes CME Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Our family is eternally grateful for the love, fellowship, and support they shared with Diane throughout her life.

Though she is no longer here to lovingly boss us all around, we find comfort in imagining her in heaven—redecorating with endless zebra and cheetah print, surrounded by countless new friends to organize, guide, and love with all her heart.

Our Black Butterfly's wings may have carried her home, but the beauty, strength, laughter, and unconditional love she shared will remain with us always.

We love you deeply, our Black Butterfly, and you will forever live in our hearts.

In honor of Diane, the family kindly asks that all attendees wear yellow.
