On Wednesday, February 22, 2023 the Heavenly Father lovingly uprooted a beautiful flower, Mother Daisy Mae Shepherd, to be permanently planted in his heavenly garden.
Mother Daisy Mae Shepherd was born on December 20, 1938 in Davie County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Pearlie (Booe) Shepherd and James Shepherd.
Mother Daisy Mae Shepherd was the very personification and had the personality of the Daisy flower. She was always vibrant, cheerful and easy to grow. She was a chosen friend to many. As the flower, she was a stunning and a reliable bloomer. She bloomed no matter what state she was in.... good times, difficult times, facing health issues and during the storms of life. She was as that hardy, drought-tolerant plant that provided years of gorgeous, classic charm through her steadfastness and lively personality. She was resilient, a reminder of Psalm 1:3, "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper." Mother Daisy was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Community Church. She was a praiser and a worshipper. She was a dissectologist - someone who loves to put together jigsaw puzzles of thousands of pieces. She enjoyed looking through magazines and listening to gospel music. She was an avid collector of teddy bears.
Mother Daisy is survived by her two sons, James Mason Shepherd (Theresa) of Lexington, NC and Billy Collin Shepherd of Mocksville, NC and a grandson, Christian Alexander Shepherd. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Clara Belle Shepherd and Ruth Booe; a host of friends and caregivers: Sister Dorothy Turner, Sister Annie Marie Holman and a Caregiver, Sister and Special Friend, Pastor Nettye Ijames-Barber.
A visitation for Mother Daisy will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm at Roberts Chapel, 953 Salisbury Street in Mocksville. Following visitation, the funeral service will begin at 2:30 P.M. Mother Daisy will be laid to rest in Rose Cemetery.
