November 17, 1958 – January 19, 2025
Dale Eric Reid, 66, known to some as "Snowball,"passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
Dale was born on November 17, 1958 to Sarah Davis Reid and the late James O'dell Reed in Davidson County. In addition to his father, Dale was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Earl Reid.
Dale graduated from Lexington Senior High School, Class of 1977. He played football from his elementary years until his senior year. Dale was raised up in Files Chapel Baptist Church. He was a long-time employee of Stone Container, a carpenter and handy man by trade. At a young age, he began fixing things around the house and continued to do all types of work (building and fixing) for people until his injury in 2022.
He was always the center of attention at family gatherings for he loved to talk. Dale was know as "Bell Clapper" by his mom because he talked so much. He loved to cook and grill. He would always grill the food at family functions because he's the best. He loved fishing and trying to sing. He once told his daughter he sang background for Jackie Wilson (Ha! Ha! Ha!).
He is survived by his loving mother, Sarah D. Reid; three children: Virtina Ritter of Greensboro, Camden Reid of San Diego, CA and Derrick Reid of Nashville, NC; six grandchildren: D'Shaun, Jakyle, Zavien, Gabriel, Eliana and Jael; and two sisters, Gloria Sturdivant and Vicki (Dr. Jimmy) Moore; an uncle, Major (Vennie) Davis of Lexington; three aunts: Louise Copeland of Lexington, Peggy (Michael) McShane of Berkley, CA and Carrie Johnson of Thomasville, NC. He is also remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish his memory.
