Daryl Lamonte Bannister, affectionately known as "Scrilly," 58, slipped away from this earthly walk of life on May 21, 2023. He was born on February 5, 1965 to the late Harvey Lee Pitts and Bobbie Jean Scales.

Daryl was raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He received his formal education from the local Winston-Salem Forsyth County Public Schools and was a 1983 graduate of East Forsyth High School. He would go on to further his education at NC State University, Raleigh, North Carolina.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Orlando Scales, Sr.; brothers, Keith Denard Bannister, Orlando Scales, Jr.; sister, Sonya McKeever; aunts, Elizabeth "Aint Lib" Boatwright and Dorothy "Aunt Dot" Jackson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Deanndra Watkins, Janyce Watkins of Winston-Salem, NC; sisters, Kelli Bannister and Karen Scales of Winston-Salem, NC; brothers: Dykar Scales of Virginia; Darryl (Vivian) Scales and Kelvin Scales of Winston-Salem, NC; nephews: Kedric Barber, Winston-Salem, NC, Kellik Simons, Charlotte, NC, Daryle Simons, Jr., Greensboro, NC; beloved cousins: Darnell Wallace "Scooter", Lawrence (Bonnie) Wallace of Winston-Salem, NC, Bobby Shackelford of Myrtle Beach, SC, Malikah Shackelford of Philadelphia , PA and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, a special friend, A-K of Winston-Salem, NC and many, many other friends and family.

His life will be celebrated 12:00 P.M. Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Roberts Funeral Service Chapel (Winston-Salem). Interment will follow at Piedmont Memorial Gardens. Visitation moments will be Friday afternoon, June 2, 2023.
