Obituary

Deloris Brown Cash was born on September 1, 1948 in Woodsdale, North Carolina to the late Bartow and Nadie Jeffers Brown. She departed this life on February 17, 2026 in Winston-Salem, N.C.

God saw the load too heavy, the hill too hard to climb. He gently closed her weary eyes and whispered, "Peace be thine."

She was six years old when she professed faith in God and Jesus Christ and was baptized at her family church, Prospect Hill Baptist in Roxboro, N.C. She attended the Person County School system and graduated from Person County High School. After graduation, she reconnected with and fell in love with former school mate Charles S. Cash, and in 1968 the two united in the bonds of holy matrimony. The happy couple was blessed with three daughters, who always showed them love and support and were the apples of their eyes.

After one year of service at Person County Memorial Hospital, Deloris accepted an employment offer with the U.S. Government Agricultural Department in Raleigh, NC where she worked for five years before relocating with her husband and children to Baltimore, Maryland. In Baltimore, she was employed with Johns Hopkins Medical Center. After several years in Maryland, Deloris and her family returned to North Carolina, residing in Durham where she worked at Duke University Medical Center in the Cardiovascular Department. Retiring in 1995; Deloris was finally able to further spoil and enjoy her 10 grandchildren.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents, Bartow and Nadie Brown; brothers, William and Roy Brown; sister, Hattie Brown Wilkerson; her husband, Charles Cash; and grandchildren, Rodney Cooper, Jr. and Alexis Cash.

She leaves to carry on her legacy her loving daughters: Tonja, Kimberly (Donald), Shannon (Aaron); her grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Tiffani (Al), Trey, Colton (Princess), Krystal, Ryan, Jordan (Juliana), Justin, Mia and Kourtney; thirteen precious great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Homegoing services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Roberts Funeral Service Chapel (Winston-Salem) with visitation at 1:30 PM prior to the service. Public viewing will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
