IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy A.
Young
July 14, 1940 – October 17, 2025
On July 14, 1940, in the quiet town of Elberton, Georgia, Dorothy Annette Clark Young entered the world-a blessing to all who would come to know and love her. On October 17, 2025 she peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of faith, warmth and service.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Willie Harris Lewis and Frankie C. Clark McCalla.
Affectionately known as "Mrs. Dot," she retired from Jed-Win Window and Door, where she worked with dedication and pride as an inspector.
A faithful member of First Baptist Church on Village Drive, Mrs. Dot served on the Usher Board and was well-known for baking her famous sweet potato pies for the Kitchen Ministry. Her devotion to her church family remained strong until her health began to decline.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life-shopping, traveling, working crossword puzzles, sitting on the front porch and especially baking and cooking for those she loved.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 65 years, Raymond Young; her goddaughter, Chandera "Channy" (Chris) Creamer of Lexington; three brothers: William (Diane) McCalla, John Thomas (Maggie) McCalla and Marion Tate; a sister, Loretha McCalla; and a host of in-laws, relatives and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
The funeral service for Dorothy Annette Clark Young will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Village Drive. Family visitation will begin at 12:30 PM.
Burial will take place on Thursday at 2:00 PM at Cross Plain Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Gainesville, GA.
