Obituary

Mr. Douglas Eugene Anderson was born September 20, 1967 to Douglas M. Anderson (Ruby) and Mary Murphy Anderson. He passed away on July 24, 2024 at Cone Health Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.

"Cheetah," as he was affectionately called, lived, loved and labored in Greensboro for the last 20-plus years. His outgoing and dynamic personality allowed him to "never meet a stranger."

Doug had a strong affinity for sports, with baseball and softball being his favorites. His nickname "Cheetah" was given to him because of his ability to make in-the-park home runs. His favorite NFL team has long been the Eagles.

Doug graduated from Smithfield (Selma) High School in Smithfield, NC. After graduation, Doug developed a strong work ethic, working full-time jobs while hustling to create clientele for his lawn service. At the time of his passing, he worked at Guaranteed Supply in Greensboro, having previously worked at Sealy Mattress in Lexington.

Doug was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joel Eugene and Addie Jackson Anderson and Thomas and Stella Koontz Murphy; his brother, Mike Anderson in 2022 and his nephew, Farad Avery in 2024.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, his siblings: James Roberts, Marilyn "Peaches" Murphy, Jamara Avery, Camelia Anderson, John P. Anderson all of NC, Douglas Pemberton, Keith Anderson, and Anissa Nash of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be Friday at 1:00pm at Files Chapel Baptist Church with family visitation at 12:30pm. Burial will follow at South Lexington City Cemetery.
