Dwayne Lewis "Tink" Lackey, age 39, was born August 21,1985 in Forsyth, North Carolina. He was the son of Rose M. Brock and Desmond Lackey. He departed his earthly life on October 16, 2024 at his residence in Mocksville, North Carolina surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Tink, as he was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Davie County, North Carolina and graduated from Davie County High School, Mocksville, North Carolina, Class of 2003. Although he battled with sickle cell for 39 years, Dwayne was an active person. A member of the Challenger Baseball team, Dwayne participated in the Davie County Special Olympics. He had a true passion for music, enjoyed listening to southern soul and his love of music helped him gain the title of "DJ Tink"! His hobbies included playing video games and playing on his red iPad.
A member of Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Mocksville, North Carolina, family meant everything to him. He enjoyed their big family gatherings and made sure to call his loved ones every day. Tink loved motorcycles and was an honorary member of the Throughbred Racers. You could see a big smile on his face when he heard the ambulance sirens go pass his home. With his favorite color being "RED", Tink's favorite NFL team was none other than the Kansas City Chiefs.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Rachal Brock and George Brock; an uncle, Lincoln Brock; and an aunt, Linda Lyons.
Dwayne was fun-loving; he touched so many lives and loved so deeply. His memory will forever be cherished by his parents, Rose Brock and Desmond Lackey, both of Mocksville, North Carolina; a sister, Tenika Brock of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a brother, Jamaal Lackey of Mocksville, North Carolina; two special nieces Rocelyn and Serenity McKay; three aunts: Minnie Carter of Georgia, North Carolina, Georgia (Roger) Dalton and Elizabeth Martinez, both of Mocksville, North Carolina; an uncle, George (Debra) Brock of Mocksville, North Carolina; and a host of cousins and friends.
The Celebration of Tinks Journey will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Mocksville, North Carolina with a 1 hour visitation prior to service time. Immediately following the service, Tink will find rest in the serenity of Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
