Obituary
Mr. Edward Newell Long, 84, formerly of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. passed Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at University Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Charlotte.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church on Village Dr. with family visitation a half hour before the service. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
No public viewing.
He was born in Davidson County to Vaver K. "V.K." Long Sr. and Lillie Green Long. He retired from Long Music Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Lexington Chorus Society and was a past president of LSHS Band Boosters' Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 brothers, Vaver "V.K." Jr., Tranas, Denarza, William, Richard, Bernie and Robert Long and 3 sisters,Lillie Baldeagle, Leslie Williams and Dorothy Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory his three daughters, Geneen (Jamie) Long Slade of Greensboro, Valerie D. Long of Charlotte and Ava (Siku) Long-Embry of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Alexandria Kornegay and Seriah Embry and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
