Eleana Zanelle Kimbrough Smoot, 71, heard the voice of Jesus say "come unto me…" on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. Her life began on May 6, 1948 and was born to the late Percy Patterson and Ruby Kimbrough Champion in Forsyth County, North Carolina.
Eleana was born in 1948 in Forsyth County, NC.She received her Applied Associate's Degree in Secretarial Science from Forsyth Technical Community College.
Her numerous employments included: Winston-Salem State University, Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge & Rice Law Firm, L'EGGS Products, US Veteran's Administration, Crystal Perfection Services; Chic Enterprises, NC Dept of Community Corrections, Neighborhood Solutions/Project Business 40, and the Winston-Salem Urban League.
Eleana was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter and sister. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Kimbrough Champion; her father, Percy Patterson; two brothers, Oliver Cleo Kimbrough and Dolphus Leon
Kimbrough.
She is survived by her daughters, Monique S. Harris and Tangee S. Williams; grandson, Pierre Demetrius Harris; sisters: Shirley K. Marcus (Harold), Joselyn K. Crosby, Yvonnia K. Martin (Bernard) and Josie Kimbrough; brothers, Lee Kimbrough and Dennis Kimbrough, all of Winston-Salem, NC; devoted friend, Harvey Smoot and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Service Celebrating Her Life will be conducted on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Roberts Funeral Service (Winston-Salem) with family moments of visitation at 12:30 p.m. prior to the Service of Celebration. Her remains shall lie in repose Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Service, Winston-Salem.
