Elizabeth Ann Coleman Leonard, born on February 15, 1934, in Lexington, North Carolina, to Albert Coleman and Pearl Elizabeth Williams Coleman, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the age of 90.
Elizabeth was a beloved charter member of Freedom Baptist Church, where she served as a former choir member. Her career as a cook brought joy and comfort to many as she worked at Golden Age Nursing Home, Backcountry Barbecue, and Biscuit King, to name just a few of the places where her skill and care in the kitchen were cherished.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Golden Richard Leonard; her daughter, Wanda K. Leonard Eggers; her grandson, Christopher Todd Eggers; three brothers: Paul Coleman, Earl Coleman, and Albert William Coleman; and a sister, Frances Louise Coleman.
Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith. She is survived by her three sons: Ricky Eugene Leonard, Stephen Lee (Andrea) Leonard, and Timothy Wayne (Tracy) Leonard; six grandchildren: Phillip (Sherri) Eggers, Mark Eggers, Crystal Leonard Phillips, Brandon Leonard, Austin Leonard, and Kelby Leonard; and four great-grandchildren: Samantha Eggers (Jesse) Ledford, Maddie Eggers, Sam Phillips, and Will Phillips. She will be deeply missed by her brother, Richard Eugene (Linda) Coleman, and her three sisters: Myrtle Hatcher, Carrie Koontz, and Nancy Marie Canady, along with a host of other relatives and close friends.
A funeral service will be held to honor Elizabeth's life on Wednesday, September 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Service, followed by burial at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 10, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Service.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to WellCare Health Hospice of Bermuda Run for their loving support and compassion. Special gratitude is also given to Davidson County Meals on Wheels for their invaluable services.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to WellCare Health Hospice or Davidson County Meals on Wheels.
Elizabeth's kindness, devotion, and warm presence will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
