Obituary

Elizabeth Smith Thomas was born on April 7, 1947 in Davidson County to the late Alonzo Lee Smith and Hester Mae Watkins Smith. She passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2025 at her residence.

Elizabeth was a proud graduate of Dunbar High School and Shaw University. She dedicated many years of service to Tiny Tot Daycare, where she cared for and guided countless children with love and patience.

A faithful member of Shady Side Presbyterian Church, Elizabeth served wholeheartedly as an usher and on several committees, including the Kitchen Committee, Youth Advisor and Decoration Committee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie Lee Thomas, Sr.; four brothers: T.J. Jefferson, David Smith, Roosevelt Smith and Clyde Smith; and one sister, Martha Lee McNeair.

Affectionately known as "Baybay" by many, she leaves to cherish her precious memory two sons, Willie Lee (Peggy) Thomas, Jr. and Roosevelt (Althea) Thomas; two daughters, Hester A. Brodie (Timothy) Aaron and Kelesia Bennett Thomas; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters: Morphine Young, Cornelia (Richard) Geer and Delia Smith-Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and dear friends.
