Obituary

Mother Eloise Turner Cockerham, age 89, was born June 22, 1933 in Iredell County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Edward Hawkins and Beatrice Turner Addison. Mother Cockerham departed this earthly life Friday evening, March 10, 2023 just before the sunset in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Mother Cockerham attended the public schools of Iredell County, North Carolina. She was last employed with CAP Home Healthcare, but many will remember her working at the various restaurants in Mocksville, serving delicious meals with a smile. After retiring, she spent most of her time babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a dedicated and faithful member of New Life Apostolic Church, Mocksville, North Carolina, doing all that was required to assist her children as they worked in the vineyards for God. She served alongside her daughters as Mother of the Church, served on the Mother's Board and was former treasurer for the church. Her hobbies included fishing, sewing, making flowers, baking cakes and watching her favorite Day Time soap operas.

Mother Eloise T. Cockerham was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Paul Clifton Cockerham; two sons, William Cockerham, Sr. and Gilbert Cockerham; a sister, Thomasine Gaither; a son-in-law, Chris Turner; and great-grandson, Isaiah Lewis.

Although Mother Cockerham's physical presence is no longer with us, her memory and the love she shared with family and friends will remain in the hearts of her son, Tracy (Patricia) Cockerham of Statesville, North Carolina; four daughters: Co-Pastor Lellian B. Cockerham, Overseer Charlene (Carnell) Jones, Gloria C. Turner and Kathy Cockerham, all of Mocksville, North Carolina; step-children: Donald Dalton, Terry Wayne Evans, Anthony Sellers and Christina Lewis; thirty-four grandchildren; seventy-three great grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law: Priscilla Cockerham; a Special Aunt, Otelia Turner of Harmony, North Carolina; Special sister, Rosa Lee (Jimmy) Arnold of Cooleemee, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Josephine Dalton of Mocksville, North Carolina; a dear friend, Holly Andrews who gave her the nickname "Weezie"; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
