Emma Yates Adams was born in Port Chester, New York on August 8, 1933 to Leonard Yates and Ella Bourdreux Yates. She passed away on February 7, 2023 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Mrs. Emma was very active in the community; she was a member of the Red Hats Society, Daughter of the Rainbow Temple 1404 and active in the Mt. Moriah Community. She enjoyed having fun with her friends and family and traveling and attending church services.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her children: Robert, Leonard, Steven, Linda and Michele; a grandson, Robert Jones; three sisters: Marian Miller, Ethel Fisher, Jenese Scott and two brothers, Leonard Yates and Charles Yates.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Phillip Adams; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
