Deacon Emmitt Dozier Jenkins, 87, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, transitioned from this life on Thursday morning, January 19, 2023 at his residence. He was born on August 19, 1935 to the late Emmitt Dozier Jenkins, Sr. and Hazel Lee Montgomery Jenkins in Greeleyville, South Carolina.
He received his formal education from the Wake County Public Schools in Raleigh, North Carolina. He would later retire from Schwab Industry after 15 years of dedicated service. However, earlier in life Emmitt relocated to Baltimore, Maryland and while there, he understood his life needed guidance; thus, he accepted Christ in 1959 at Union Baptist Church. In 2002, he relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Emmitt loved and enjoyed the fellowship of Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church and joined them as a member three years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Hazel Jenkins; two sisters, Carather Richardson and Ollie Scott; and one son, Dwight Jenkins, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Willie Hill Jenkins of the home; five stepchildren; two devoted granddaughters, Lisa Smith (Richard) and Valerie Morrison; grandson, Dwight Jenkins, Jr.; a devoted niece, Donise Benton; two devoted nephews, Barry Smith and Creig Richardson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church with visitation at 12:00 P.M. prior to the service. Public viewing will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the funeral home. In every effort to protect our client families, facial masks and/or coverings are required for the services.
