When I come to the end of my journey and I've traveled my last weary mile, Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned and remember only the smile.

Erik Kinard Williams, 58, affectionately known as "Big E," exchanged time for eternal rest on Sunday evening, November 13, 2022. Erik was born to Betty Jean Thompson and Karl Bernard Williams, Sr on October 29, 1964 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He matriculated through and was a graduate of the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. Erik was employed with the City of Winston-Salem most of his adult life, where he gave of his time, talent and skill.

Erik had a great zeal for athletics and was a true sports fanatic. During his prime, he was a star basketball player in high school and continued playing recreational basketball throughout his young adult years. In his leisure time he enjoyed watching basketball, football and wrestling on television and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, a brother, Karl Bernard Williams, Jr. and a granddaughter, Taylyn Kate Williams.

Left to cherish his memory and celebrate his life are his son, Tayron (Lynette) Williams; a stepdaughter, Tamika (Ruben) Thrasher; two grandchildren, Tayari Williams and Tayron Williams II; two sisters, Sheila Thompson and Elaine Williams; two nieces, Shanita Thompson and Shannon Logan; one nephew, Ron Winchester, Jr.; two great nieces, Jamiya and Bria Logan; two great nephews, Sa'id Thompson and Amauri Thompson-Brown; an aunt, Cordelia Hairston; and a host of family and friends.

"Big E" touched the lives of many and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

His life and legacy will be celebrated 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 21, 2022 at Roberts Funeral Service (Winston-Salem). Public viewing will also be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service at 2:00 P.M.
