Ernest Lee Cain, Sr., gave up time for Eternity on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at his residence with his loving family surrounding him in Mocksville, North Carolina. "Lee," as he was affectionately known, was born December 8, 1957 in Rowan County, North Carolina to the parentage of the late David Lee Dalton and Evelyn Geneva Cain. Lee was raised by Ernestine and the late Henry Grant of Mocksville, North Carolina. His family and friends give thanks to Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for the blessing of sharing his life with us for so many years.


Lee attended the public schools in Davie County, North Carolina. Never idle, Lee was employed for several years at Tyson Foods as a forklift operator. He was a life-long, faithful member of Second Presbyterian Church in Mocksville. You could easily find Lee doing what he loves the most, detailing cars. He had several favorite pastimes, including watching and playing basketball, riding motorcycles, watching country westerns and adoring antique and muscle cars. Lee loved watching his grandchildren play sports. He also thought he was a cool kid, always listening to the latest rap and trying to keep up with his children and their friends, aka "pops boys."


Mr. Cain, Sr. leaves many hearts to cherish his memory. Among those, a loving and devoted wife, Tawana Smoot Cain of the home; two sons, Ernest Lee Cain, Jr. and Chad Amontae Lee (Shanteaa) Dalton, both of Mocksville, North Carolina; three daughters: TiShekka Nicole Cain of Mocksville, North Carolina, Tamica Sherelle Cain and Chenoa Wanakee Carson, both of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a host of brothers, sisters and in-laws; seven grandchildren: Asia Cain, Elijah Carson, Avery Cain, Kyrah Cain, Kyndall Cain, Khloe Dalton, Kylo Dalton and one on the way, baby Eliana Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.




Funeral services celebrating his life will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, October 21, 2023 at New Calvary Holiness Church with visitation at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Second Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be held Friday, October 20, 2023 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
