Mr. Eugene Hairston, 74, of the Petersville Community, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Hinkle Hospice House.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 2:00pm at Buncombe Baptist Church with family visitation a half hour before the service.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was born March 10, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Ozzie Davis and Bessie Mae Hairston. He retired from Mannington after 33 years of service. He was a member of Buncombe Baptist Church where he served as a parking lot attendant and was a member of Petersville Community, Inc., Davidson County Chapter of the National Hairston Clan and the Elites Clubs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hairston; his grandmother who reared him, Frances F. Hairston and sister, Doris Ann King.

Eugene leaves to cherish his memory his children: Katrina (Nathan) Jarrett, Regina (Jeffrey) Hargrave, Bessie (Benjamin) Holmes, Eugene L. Hairston and Terry Smith; three brothers: James William (Lula Mae) Hairston, Johnny (Sharon) Davis and Russell Davis; a sister, Shirley Davis; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
