IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Floyd
Smith
April 26, 1944 – September 10, 2024
Floyd Everette Smith, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at Duke University Hospital on September 10, 2024. He was born April 26, 1944 to Luther Everette and Rose Ida Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-nine years, Judy Smith and sons Robert and Lonnie Smith. He resided in Thomasville his entire life. He was a master of the band saw, completing the most difficult and intricate projects for Thomasville Furniture, where he started in 1973 and remained until retirement in 2008. Floyd never met a stranger whom he didn't like. He could very quickly perplex and humor you with his unique wit and character; he could make anyone smile. He was the hardest and most dedicated worker, always providing for his family. He was the greatest "papaw" anyone could ever ask for. He lived for moments with his grandchildren, taking them to Lexington BBQ for a "fat sandwich," out to ice cream, sharing his deep love for music and guitar playing, speaking of the Bible, fishing, flea market Saturday's and fixing just about anything that no one else could. He is survived by his fiancé, Shirley; daughter, Cindy (husband Jeff) Johnson; granddaughter, Brandy Jeffery; grandson, Christopher (wife Alicia) Jeffery; niece, Annette Watson; and great granddaughters, Olivia Fernandes and Addelyn Jeffery. Floyd didn't want "a big fuss" over his passing, so in lieu of a service or donation, we ask that you go into the world and do one good deed, a kind act, in his remembrance.
