Obituary

Fred Wayne Scrutchins, of Davie County, North Carolina went to his heavenly home on Monday, July 17, 2023 while a patient at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born in East Orange, New Jersey on April 24, 1958 to the late Arthur and Rosetta Chinn Scrutchins.
"Wayne", as he was affectionately known attended the public schools of Essex County, New Jersey, graduating from East Orange High school, East Orange, New Jersey. He furthered his education at Winston-Salem State University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Wayne was a member of Union Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Always working to assure that no one is denied mental health assistance, Wayne was employed with Forsyth County, as a Mental Health Coordinator.
Wayne had many moments in his life that he was proud to share with anyone who would listen to him talk about his family, his career, and just enjoying life. One of his proudest accomplishments was when he joined the prestigious Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. on November 17, 1978. Music was his passion, with a wide genre of styles including but not limited to: Jazz, Gospel and his all-time favorite, "House"!
Wayne was well known in every community he walked through leaving a boisterous trail of love and laughter behind him. His charming and welcoming personality permitted him to be a man who never met a stranger and could have a conversation with anyone from the highest regard to the least of them. He was a giver, a doer, and most of all a servant.
Wayne leaves to cherish fond memories: a brother, Donnie Scrutchins, of Alexandria, Virginia; a sister, Valerie Scrutchins, of East Orange, New Jersey; one nephew, Clifford; two great nieces; a great nephew; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
