Gary O. Hargrave of Durham, North Carolina, passed away on October 3, 2025. He was born on July 17, 1963 in Davidson County to Doug Richards and Frances B. Smith Hargrave.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald Ray Smith and Kenny "Smitty" Smith; and two sisters, Mary Lee Hargrave and Robin "Tutu" Perkins.

He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings: Josephine Mason, Esther (Charles) Powell, Beatrice Conner, Dwayne Hargrave, Rudy Hargrave, Penny (Freddie) Moore, Carlotta Hargrave, Patricia King, Sharon Ward, Eloise Akwuba, Paul Richards and Benjamin Richards; a special friend, Vicky Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
