Geneva Ann Shumaker Cody went to be with our Lord on October 15 at the age of 83 after a brief illness. She was well taken care of by people who love their job and did it well at the Hinkle Hospice House.

She was born in Rowan County to Frank and Lorean Parker Shumaker. In 1971 she attended Len Beauty College and later opened her own beauty shop in downtown Lexington. She also became a CNA and worked for Hill Top and Brain Center Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence Cody; a daughter, Lori Earwood; a brother, James Shumaker and a sister, Mildred Cope.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Sheila (Donnie) Perrell of Welcome and Debra Lucus of the home; a brother, Pete (Lee) Shumaker of Pilot Mountain; a sister, Bety (Clinton) Cecil; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren who she loved dearly.
