Godfrey Lyles was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 31, 1955 to David Lyles and Mary Bell Lyles. He peacefully entered eternal rest on September 13, 2025 at the Hinkle Hospice House.

He retired from Smurfit-Stone Container and was of the Baptist faith.

Godfrey was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Larry Lyles; and three sisters: Georgeanna Lyles, Carol Turner and Daisy Bryant.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Annie Pearl Lyles; his children: LaQuetta Henry (John), Antenina Debose (Braxton), Kisha Howard (Melvin) and Landis Wilson, Jr.; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his brother, David Lyles, Jr. (Vernell); his sister, Deborah Stowe; two brothers-in-law, Calvin Stowe and Christopher Cassell; an aunt, Marion Heasty; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at New Faith Full Gospel Fellowship Center, with family visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Salisbury National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
