Hallie Mae Crump Woodberry, 90, an amazing woman who loved to tell jokes and keep a smile on your face, departed this life on Sunday morning, February 27, 2022.
Hallie was born August 23, 1931 in Davidson County to Clifton Clay Crump and Ella Fitzgerald Crump, one of fourteen children. She helped take care of her parents and siblings when they became ill. She worked as a nanny for many years prior to working in the furniture industry, and retired from Young and Hinkle.
She was a member of Yadkin Star Baptist Church and served on the kitchen committee, senior choir, church clerk for over 50 years, church first piano player and mother of the church. Hallie enjoyed cooking, talking on the phone with her friends, working in her garden and dancing in her younger years. If she wasn't on the phone, Hallie would be watching the game show network or doing word puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen Woodberry; her brothers: James, Artis, Frank, Clifton, Jr., Baxter, Jack, Roscoe and Theodore Crump and her sisters: Katie Crump, Mary Nell, Clattie Clodfelter and Martha Clement.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Torrez "Buddy" Woodberry; three daughters: Dianna Crump-Watson, Wanda Woodberry and Sandra W. (Stacy) Young; a brother, Roy (Elizabeth) Crump; 11 grandchildren:Marcus Hairston, Reantea Norman, Calandra Norman, Khia Norman, Demetra Fuller, Torrey Woodberry, Alyssa Woodberry, Julian Woodberry, Dr. Tramaine (Dr. Jenell) Young, Erig Woodberry and Jhamien Peterson-Edwards; 12 great-grandchildren: Aaliyah, Meliyah, Jahiya, Jaheri, KeJuan, Landen, Taylor, Kinsley, Kamar (KJ). Ethan, Jade and Macaiah; five sisters-in-law, Ruby Crump, Katherine W. Hoover, Clarissa Woodberry, Virginia H. Woodberry and Peggy F. Millen; godchildren: Martha (Robert) Adams, John (Geryl) Myers and Suzanne Myers Andrews, Mary McGriff and Keith (Sabrina) Johnson; a special friend, Doretha Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
The funeral service will be Thursday at Yadkin Star Baptist Church at 2:00pm with family visitation at 1:30pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be Wednesday from 1:00pm-6:00pm at Roberts Funeral Service.
