Helen Lyons Gregory, 87, of Mooresville, formerly of Mocksville, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville.


Helen was born on September 28, 1937 in Davie County, NC, to the late Gaston and Sarah Jane Lyons. She attended Davie County Training School. On June 16, 1956, she married her beloved husband, Ben, and together they had two wonderful children. Helen retired from Monleigh Garment in Mocksville, dedicating her later years to her family and her passions.


Helen was a devoted member of Mount Carmel Holiness Church in Hamptonville, NC. She found joy in nurturing her garden, tending to vibrant flower beds that reflected her nurturing spirit. Helen loved engaging in puzzles and crossword books. She was an avid television fan, particularly fond of soap operas and comedies, which always brought a smile to her face. Her cherished shopping trips to Walmart were not just errands but a chance to connect with her community.


In addition to her parents and late husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary M. Lyons and Elizabeth Lyons, brothers David Lyons, Richard Lyons, Samuel Lyons, Garland Lyons, Nathaniel Lyons, Hardin Cuthrell, and Jasper Cuthrell.


Those left to cherish Helen's memory are her beloved children, Shirley Grant of Mocksville and Helen JoAnn Moore (Donald) of Mooresville; her cherished grandson, William C. Gregory; granddaughters LaTasha Douglas (Jason), LaToyia Davidson (Charles), LaShonda Voves (Lucas), and Andrea Grant; her sister, Annie Mae Lyons; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.


Helen will be remembered for her infectious sense of humor and her ability to bring joy to those around her. Her warm spirit and laughter left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Helen's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The service of Triumphant Celebration will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Roberts Funeral Service Chapel with a visitation at 1:30 PM prior to the hour of service. Interment will follow at Rose Cemetery. A public viewing will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
