Ja'Lea Ja'Chelle Sampson, 21, passed away on May 27, 2023 at Moses Cone Health. She was born October 20, 2001 in Bel Air, Maryland to Latrice Michelle Bowens and Virgil Sampson.

She was a high school graduate and attended Winston-Salem State University. Lea Lea, as she was called by family and friends, was a member of Monument of Praise.

She leaves to cherish her memory her parents, Latrice M. Bowens of the home and Virgil Sampson of Harford, Maryland; two brothers, Jacques Bowens-Steel and Jayleen Bowens; six sisters: Ti'Nesha Sampson, Jennifer Kellerbrew, Ke'Nesha Sampson, Shi'Nece Sampson, J'Ahna Bowens and Janiaya Betha; paternal grandfather, John Singleton; maternal grandparents, Carol (Donald Ray) Davis-Smith and William T. (Vivian) Bowens, Jr.; six aunts: Tirzah (Lenord) Sampson-Pollard, Bonnie (Curtis) Blount, Valerie Bowens, Vickie (Antonio) Dove, Gwendolyn Sampson, Melissa (Derrick) Parker; six uncles: Wm Taft Bowens, III, Anthony (Ashley) Bowens, William Bowens, Jared Sampson, Jason Singleton and Jon Singleton and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday at Monument of Praise at 1:00pm with family visitation at 12:30pm. Burial will follow at Carolina Biblical Garden.
