Mr. James Gregory Allen, 66, of Winston-Salem, NC, was called to his Heavenly home on February 15, 2024 at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born on March 26, 1957, in Stokes County. He was the son of the late Maxine Allen Mitchell and the late James Bowman. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his granddaughter, Dallas Marie Allen.
James Allen was a devoted employee and friend to many at UPS. Throughout his 48 years there, Jimmy's commitment to his work was truly unparalleled. His devotion was not merely a reflection of his duty, but stemmed from a genuine passion for what he did. Day in and day out, he poured his heart and soul into his job, finding fulfillment in the sense of purpose it provided him. His dedication extended beyond the clock, as he invested his time and energy into perfecting his craft, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and superiors alike. His unwavering loyalty to UPS wasn't just a job; it was a testament to his character and values, showcasing his resilience and determination to excel in all that he pursued.
In addition to his dedication to his career, his infectious humor and boundless enthusiasm brightened the lives of those around him. With a quick wit and a ready smile, he had a remarkable ability to lift the spirits of others, turning even the most mundane moments into cherished memories. Whether through his playful banter with coworkers or his warm interactions with family and friends, he had a knack for finding joy in every situation. His laughter was contagious, creating a sense of camaraderie wherever he went. His enthusiasm for life was truly inspiring, reminding us all to embrace each day with optimism and a sense of adventure. Though he may no longer be with us, the laughter and love he shared will continue to echo in our hearts forever. Please continue to lift us up in prayer and share laughter and joy with each other, the way he would have wanted.
James is survived by his wife of 28 years, Tammy Lynette Allen: two sons, Corey Gregory Allen (Na-Twan) and Cameron James Samuel Allen, all of Thomasville, NC; one sister, Karen Bowman and four brothers: Donnell Allen (Jackie), Tyrone Mitchell (Michele), Sullivan Mitchell and Caleb Mitchell (Angie) all of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Denver Mattheus Allen and Shiloh Josiah Allen as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service commemorating his life, love and legacy will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Praise Assembly Church Ministries, with visitation at 11:00 A.M. prior to the service.
